Piccadilly London Comedy Club

Piccadilly Comedy Club London is a cracking stand up comedy club located in London’s west end.
We are located at The Comedy Pub, a venue that has hosted live comedy in one form or another for over twenty years.
We aim to provide excellent comedy nights in a superb atmosphere for an excellent price. We are regularly recommended in Time Out and The Guardian.

The Venue

The ground floor of The Comedy Pub is a lovely traditional English pub with a strong comedy theme, with pictures of the many comedians that have played the pub over many years on the wall.
The pub itself is a listed building. It has a lot of stairs, which can make it awkward for disabled or elderly people. Unfortunately it’s listed status means we cannot put a lift of any kind in.
The comedy club is on the first floor and sometimes the cellar room of the pub. Our capacity is 130 fully seated. All seats have an excellent view, there are no pillars etc, and our modern PA ensures that everyone can hear clearly.
All our seating is allocated. We do a seating plan before the show so your seats are reserved for you on arrival. This means we can guarantee to sit you together with your friends for the show.
Like all pubs, our comedy venue is for ages 18 and over only.

The Show

We feature four (sometimes five) comedians per show plus an MC. We aim to show case a diverse range of comedians in our comedy bills, so you will see a range of different types of stand up comedy through the evening.
We have two intervals to give you plenty of opportunity to get drinks or go to the toilet. A typical show lasts about two and a half hours, though live comedy is always hard to run to an exact timetable, as it is a live show, and as such a little unpredictable.

The Comedians

All of our comedians are handpicked. A typical show will feature two “name” comedians who usually have a TV credit such as Russell Howard’s Good News, Live At The Apollo, Mock The Week, 8 Out of 10 Cats etc. to their name, plus a “break-through” act (an act that is making the transition from “new” to professional) and a newer comedian. Please note that even the newer acts have been seen in advance and hand picked, they are only on because we think they are good enough.
We feature a completely new line up of comedians every weekend, which is why so many people come back to our club again and again.
We are proud that our club has a clear line of progression for comedians. Many of our headline acts who have become TV name comedians such as Romesh Ranganathan, Sara Pascoe, Nish Kumar, Luke Toulson, Daniel Simonsen, Katherine Ryan, Bobby Mair, Dane Baptiste etc started as the new act on our bills.
All of our line-ups are available on our website some months in advance, so we are open and transparent about who we have and what we are doing.
Our MCs are a vital part of the evening. They all have over ten years of experience, as we believe that the MC is a crucial part of the show. Judging from many of the reviews we have received, you agree with us.

Who We Are

Whether you are a performer or you run a comedy club you need to really love live stand up comedy to be part of it and to be successful. And we really love stand up comedy.
The comedians are booked by Mike Manera. Mike spent thirteen years performing on the comedy circuit where he built up an impressive array of contacts, as well as appearing on TV is shows such as ITV1’s Take The Mic and Channel 4’s The Joan Rivers Position. You will now frequently find Mike on the door and/or MCing the shows at Piccadilly Comedy Club.
Back in the 90’s Mike was a music promoter of some note, working with bands such as Oasis, Blur, Teenage Fanclub and a whole host of musicians well known at the time but now forgotten. It was as this time (the early nineties) that he first started watching live comedy. David Baddiel said that the first Newman & Baddiel show was in a music venue, and it was Mike who put that show on. It was his first comedy show as a promoter, and a great place to start.

A Bit Of History

Piccadilly Comedy Club first came into existence in 2004, then called the Piccadilly Circus Comedy Club. It ran for three years at The Crown on Brewer Street and was run in tandem with the neighbouring Upstairs at the Queens Head. It quickly built a reputation as great place to see up and coming comedians in an intimate environment.
Since then we have come a long way. But we still strive to capture that intimate atmosphere that only the best stand up comedy clubs have.
